Another article making fun of crime. There is nothing funny about crime! These are people mocking our laws with no regard for the people around them.
Topic: North Okaloosa Fire District explains fee increase of six percent (about $5.64 a year)
Where is the cost cutting? The budget was increased by over $200,000 for next year. Why are they sinking $30,000 into a brush truck when there are no enough engines to place in all the stations? The commissioners are paid over $16,000 a year; why not cut that cost and put it into the department if an increase is needed? I know they said the charter had a mistake that said they must pay themselves, but they can donate it back or change the charter if they want. I thought we made it clear that we will not accept an increase. I say it is time for us to get these commissioners out and replace them with commissioners who are working for us. Looks like a county-wide fire department is getting closer all the time, I wonder why with all the poor management.

I guess the citizens of North Okaloosa did not speak out clearly enough, that the commissioners are still trying to raise more money instead of trying to mend fences with Crestview and Dorcas to form a north county fire department. As it is now I think the NOFD response time is a joke.

They still find a way. They were voted down three times and we still have to pay for their excessive spending.

There is a thing called recall. If enough signatures are gotten then the commissioners can be recalled and new commissioners appointed. Just an idea.
