Officer fired over stalking allegations

BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) — A Bunnell police officer has been fired after officials say he abused department resources to stalk a former girlfriend.

Officer Russell Nasby was fired Monday after a four-month internal investigation. He had been on paid administrative leave since Jan. 29.

A woman reported to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in October that Nasby and her had broken up in July, but that he was stalking her on social networking sites, e-mail and by telephone.

The woman did not want to press charges, but the complaint prompted Bunnell police to investigate. The department found the Nasby used the state driver and vehicle database to get information on the woman’s new boyfriend. He also reportedly visited banned Web sites on his work computer.
