The water flowing from Auburn Water Systems' tanks was selected as the best tasting out of 1,300 member systems by the Florida Rural Water Association.

Auburn Water receives 'tasteful' honor

Last month’s annual meeting of the Florida Rural Water Association concluded with a local operator bringing two awards home to north Okaloosa County.

Auburn Water System’s general manager, Doug Sims, was selected Manager or Administrator of the Year at the Daytona Beach conference.

The association represents 1,300 rural water providers throughout the state.

“I have a real good team here to make that possible,” Sims said. “It’s nice to win an award, but it’s really an honor to win two.

“The really nice thing about these awards is that we did not know they were coming. We thought we had the best-tasting water, but it’s good to hear the people who were judging thought that, too.”
