Man bitten by shark he hooked, swam to release

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida fisherman was bitten by a shark after he accidentally caught the animal, then swam out into the water to release it.

Riviera Beach authorities aren’t sure what kind of shark it was.

The man, whose name was not released, was fishing from the beach when he hooked the six-foot shark Saturday.

It was just three days after another man was fatally bitten by a shark about 30 miles north in Stuart.

The fisherman was taken to the hospital after suffering the bite in his lower leg.
