Suspect caught towing stolen car

A Crestview man was arrested July 5 and charged with grand theft auto and dealing in stolen property after police saw him towing a vehicle matching the description of a stolen car.

According to an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Report, a deputy was en route to the site of the thefts when he spotted a the suspect's vehicle, based on descriptions provided by the prson looking after the victim's property. The suspect 's vehicle was pulling a 1976 Mercury Grand Prix that matched the description of a car reported stolen that day.

According to the report, the defendant admitted stealing the Mercury Grand Prix, as well as a Chevrolet El Camino stolen from the same site the previous day. The defendant also admitted selling the El Camino to an area salvage shop. He also told police he was planning to return to the same site to steal the last vehicle on the property, a Pontiac Firebird.
