Man gets 25 years for road rage death
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) — A Pasco County man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for causing a 2007 rage crash that led to another driver’s death.
A judge sentenced 29-year-old Brian Douglas Haag on Monday. He was convicted in September of vehicular homicide, two counts of reckless driving with serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury.
Authorities say Haag was driving nearly 90 mph in September 2007 when his truck ran into 38-year-old Kenneth Sapp’s truck. The crash followed a heated exchange and high-speed chase between the drivers.
Sapp’s son, who was riding with him, sustained a broken leg in the crash, and Haag’s passenger, David Smith, ended up with a fractured spine.
