Man arrested after trying to run over girlfriend
WALTON COUNTY -- A 31-year-old Walton County man was arrested Wednesday night after trying to run over his girlfriend at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and County Road 30A.
Bradley Rust was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Rust and his girlfriend had been arguing in his 2008 Nissan Xterra just prior to the incident. She told Walton County Sheriff's Office deputies that she became scared and got out of the car at that intersection. Rust then "spun the vehicle around in the median and apppeared to be trying to run her over," according to a press release.
A passing motorist reportedly used his commercial work truck to block Rust's vehicle from striking his girlfriend.
Rust drove away and was arrested later at his home on Blue Bell Circle in Santa Rosa Beach.
The woman was not injured.
A judge set bond for Rust at $15,000.
