Heartwarming remembrance
After reading Covenant Hospice’s mission statement one might walk away and say it is just a bunch of nice-sounding corporate words.
When you get to know the staff and volunteers, you begin to understand the mission statement is more than words. It is compassionate action.
That became readily apparent this past Sunday, when Crescent Park Village Assisted Living Facility hosted the annual Remembrance Celebration.
Dolores Russell, a hospice volunteer and recent widow, gave a heartwarming account of her life with her late husband, a career Navy man.
Russell told the audience of about 50 of traveling the world as a Navy wife and about some of the exotic ports of call they made together. She spoke about the good times and not so good times. Russell spoke eloquently and emotionally, and her words resonated through the crowd because most, if not all, had gone through the most difficult of times.
