CRESTVIEW — Two men are in Okaloosa County Jail following their arrests in connection with recent burglaries.
Jerry McCallum, 39, and William Gilley, 24, of Crestview have been charged with loitering, prowling, and burglary tools possession after an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy reportedly spotted them.
The deputy found bolt cutters, gloves, flashlights and a notebook "detailing the size and location of utility trailers in Okaloosa County” on the men, an OCSO news release stated.
The deputy also found two GPS devices that tracked previous locations of recent burglaries and thefts in the area.
The officer reportedly noticed the men in a black truck pulling into the driveway of a vacant house on Ryan Road.
Gilley told the officer they were there to get a refrigerator, the release stated. However, neither he nor Gilley had keys to the residence or the property owner’s written permission.
Both men told the officer they found the notebook in the trash, but couldn't say where, the report said.
In addition, they told the officer they had only recently purchased the GPS devices.
