CRESTVIEW – A man faces charges after he cut a woman with a knife during a fight, Crestview police say.

The incident took place Aug. 8 at a Bay Street residence, the Crestview Police Department report indicated. The officer noted the woman was bleeding from her thumb, which appeared to have been cut with a knife.

The woman said she and 62-year-old Robert Lee Williams of Crestview got into an argument on the front porch of his house. She said he charged at her with a knife and cut her thumb. She couldn’t describe the knife and left without knowing what Williams did with it.

Williams denied cutting the woman or even having a knife. However, the officer noticed Williams was wearing a pocket knife holster on this right front hip that was open and empty.

Officers didn’t find the knife.

Williams was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer without violence.

His plea date is Sept. 24.
