MADD donates equipment to OCSO

Northwest Florida Mothers Against Drunk Drivers has donated two portable intoxilizers to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. The devices are portable breath testers designed to show blood alcohol levels in individuals who’ve been drinking.

The portable testers are to be used by deputies to help to deter drunk driving and can be taken to events ranging from Spring Break get-togethers to football games.

MADD volunteer Pete Wolniewicz says the portable breathalyzers cost about $400 each. The money for the equipment was raised through fines paid by drunken driving offenders who are required to attend a Victims Impact Panel sponsored by MADD.

For more information, contact Pete Wolniewicz at 862-3419 or Mary Grace Evors at 864-5275.
