UPDATE: Suspect in shooting captured
Suspect shot into car Friday night
Police captured a Crestview man accused of firing a gun into an occupied car during an argument last week.
Dwight D. Redding, 35, known as “Lil Man,” is charged with “shooting a deadly missile into a vehicle” and “public discharge of a firearm.”
Redding was captured in Escambia County about 9 a.m. Thursday morning, according to a press release.
No one was injured in the shooting incident that occurred about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at a home located on West Edney Avenue in Crestview, Lt. Andrew Schneider said. It was Redding’s birthday.
Redding pulled up to a truck parked outside the home in the 600 block of West Edney and began arguing with a man inside the vehicle when an argument broke out between the two men, Schneider said.
Redding pulled out a gun and began shooting “but didn’t hit him,” Schneider said.
Redding fled in his 2003 Monte Carlo.
Schneider credited media reports of the ensuing manhunt for Reddings’ arrest.
“We would also like to thank the citizens of Crestview, and citizens of the surrounding areas, for their assistance in locating Redding,” a press release states.
