Man arrested in connection with armed robbery, firing deadly missiles

CRESTVIEW — The United States Marshals Office's Fugitive Task Force of Alabama has arrested a 27-year-old in connection with a shooting two weeks ago at a Crestview residence.

Yoni Leonard Calhoun, of 431 Peachburg Road, Union Springs, Ala., has been arrested on the Crestview Police Department's charges for armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and firing deadly missiles Into an cccupied vehicle, along with his accomplices, identified as Michael T. White, and Yoni’s brother, Rasheik Calhoun.

Yoni spent time at 462 N. Savage St., in Crestview with Rasheik. Both brothers had arrest warrants in connection with a string of violent crimes when the CPD's SWAT Team on Jan. 2 executed a search warrant at the residence.

Two officers were shot and received non-life-threatening injuries, and Rasheik Calhoun was killed in an exchange of gunfire. Officers also arrested 38-year-old Aphrey Benjamin Collins, of 3324 Auburn Road, in Crestview, and charged him with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, for his role during the exchange of gunfire.

Yoni Calhoun was not at the house at the time the search warrant was served, and he later fled to Lee County, Ala.

Michael T. White was apprehended by the Crestview Police Department Criminal Investigations Division on Jan. 7 for his role during the armed robbery. He was arrested without incident. Additional charges may be possible.

Yoni Calhoun also faces multiple, unrelated felony charges out of Union Springs Police Department in Alabama.
