A 31-year-old Crestview man was arrested yesterday after he traveled to Walton County to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl named Katie.
Instead, Shawn Scott Brock met a law enforcement officer and was taken into custody, according to a Walton County Sheriff’s Office press release. He was charged with obscene communications –- traveling to meet after using computer to lure child.
Brock was online Jan. 8 when he came across an advertisement for a bored young female looking for someone to chat with, the release said. He made contact with the female, who claimed to be a 14-year-old from DeFuniak Springs.
During his conversations with “Katie,” he indicated he planned to drive to DeFuniak Springs to engage in sexual activity with “Katie.” He believed she would be home alone without parental supervision during the encounter, the release said.
When Brock was arrested, items related to sexual activity were found in his car.
He was booked into the Walton County Department of Corrections.
