Laurel Hill City Council update

LAUREL HILL — A moving tribute to Laurel Hill's Citizen of the Year, the late John W. Harrison, set the tone for a lighthearted City Council meeting Thursday night.

The council wrapped up its business in 44 minutes, including unanimous approval of first readings of three ordinances that will amend the city's comprehensive plan.

The focus of the evening was on Harrison. Council Chairman Vizell Robbins, Laurel Hill First Baptist Church Rev. Mike McVay and Mayor James Dunn spoke about Harrison's contributions to the city.

"The three things John loved the most were his church, and the Laurel Hill Hoboes, and his letter carriers," McVay said.

Harrison's widow, Syble, accepted a plaque from Dunn.

Read more about the meeting in the Saturday edition of the Crestview News Bulletin.
