County to hold second charter government workshop Thursday

The Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners will hold the second workshop on charter government on Thursday, March 11 at 6 p.m. in the Crestview Courthouse. The workshops provide Okaloosa County commissioners and the public with an opportunity to learn more about charter government.

 Speakers for the upcoming workshop include:

  • Vince Long, deputy county administrator for Leon County, concerning Leon County’s experience with the charter government process.
  • Patrick McCormack, county attorney for St. Johns County, concerning St. Johns County’s experience with the charter government process.
  • Steve Czonstka, former chairman of the Okaloosa Charter Government Commission, concerning the 2005-2006 Okaloosa County Charter Government Commission’s experience with the charter government process.

The first workshop was attended by approximately 60 citizens, including mayors of local municipalities, the Citizens Alliance Committee and other interested parties. The presentation from the first workshop can be accessed at www.okaloosafl.com.
