Saturday fire damaged back end of abandoned home

The State Fire Marshall is investigating a fire that damaged the back end of an abandoned house on State Road 85, across from the Coastal Car Wash on Saturday night.

Both southbound lanes were closed as crews fought the fire. One lane was reopened after about an hour.

The Crestview Fire Department was able to knock down the majority of the fire within five minutes of arriving on scene and was able to extinguish the remaining flames within thirty minutes. North Okaloosa Fire District also responded to the scene. North Okaloosa later was released from the scene, but remained in the area for city coverage.
