Eglin officials remove suspicious package
EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Eglin First Responders removed a suspicious package from the post office at Eglin Air Force Base at approximately 11 a.m. last Thursday.
Eglin Fire Department, Bioenvironmental and Explosive Ordinance Disposal personnel investigated the package on scene until they felt it was safe for removal, according to a press release.
As a precautionary measure, base officials evacuated people from the post office and several surrounding facilities during the investigation. Those offices have now reopened. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
Eglin officials consider the matter closed and all normal business activities have resumed, the press release states.
