Greg Evers

Family:

Three children; Stephanie, Jennifer and Rob

Place of Worship:

Beaver Creek Baptist Church

Experience relevant to the office you seek:

My Northwest Florida roots run deep. I am a fifth generation Panhandle farmer and small businessman who was born and raised in Santa Rosa County. I have served on the Yellow River Soil & Water Conservation District and in the Florida House of Representatives. My heritage and proven record fighting for Northwest Florida make me uniquely qualified to serve the people of Northwest Florida in the Florida Senate.

Other education/experience:

Jay High School graduate 1973; Pensacola Junior College; Yellow River Soil & Water Conservation District (1996-2001); Florida House of Representatives (2001 – Present).

Reason you are seeking this position:

As a fifth generation farmer and small businessman, I am running for the Florida Senate so that everyday, working people have an effective, dedicated and independent voice in Tallahassee. I want to advocate for the needs and concerns of my constituents and ensure that Northwest Florida’s voice is not drowned out by South Florida’s needs.

Biggest issue this position faces and how you plan to address it:

The two biggest issues I believe that need to be addressed are out of control government growth and economic recovery following the Deepwater Horizon tragedy.

Out of Control Government: I will work to curtail and reverse the spin of out of control government and will work to make sure that Florida is protected from Big Government intrusion. Specifically, we need to get control of illegal immigration. I have already filed legislation identical to the Arizona immigration law during the special session, and if elected, I will file this again in the 2011 session and fight for its passage. I also co-sponsored the Florida Healthcare Freedom Act and am committed to helping Floridians not fall victim to socialized medicine based out of Washington.

Economic Recovery: I would also like to file economic recovery legislation that will help our region recover and decontaminate after the Deepwater Horizon tragedy, stimulate growth of jobs and continue the fight to protect our 2nd Amendment rights and freedoms.

Mike Hill

Family:

Married to the former Greta Fields (first and only wife), 28 years. Three children; Joshua, 17, Jessica, 15, and Jonathan, 14.

Place of Worship:

New Testament Fellowship, Pensacola

Experience relevant to the office you seek:

Serve on several statewide and local community boards and visit legislative delegation annually in Tallahassee on behalf of those organizations. No prior public office.

Other education/experience:

B.S., U.S. Air Force Academy, 1980; MBA, University of West Florida, 1988; Company Grade Officer of the Year, Eglin AFB, 1988; State Farm Insurance Agent, 1990 – Present.

Reason you are seeking this position:

People are desperately hungry for a true conservative that will take a firm stand for the time tested, irrefutable principles of limited government, lower taxes, personal freedom and individual responsibility. I want to repeal the $2.2 billion in fees and assessments placed on Floridian’s driver licenses, license plates, vehicle registration and fishing license. Reducing government spending and waste is critical. My friends at Florida Tax Watch offer my solutions in this area that must be implemented.

Biggest issue this position faces and how you plan to address it:

Economic development and job growth is imperative. We must streamline the permitting process for all businesses. We must reduce the corporate tax to zero over the next seven to eight years. We must build vibrant partnerships between our higher education, our military and high tech businesses. Through forward thinking leadership, this partnership will serve as the foundation for high pay job growth for many years to come.
