DeFuniak motorcyclist killed in accident
A 46-year-old DeFuniak Springs man was killed while riding his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle in the wrong lane of U.S. Highway 90 in east Crestview.
Robert Earl Manning was traveling westbound in the inside eastbound lane of U.S. 90 Friday night when he was struck near Hillcrest Road by a 2001GMC Yukon SUV driven by 36-year-old Shannon Renee Bexley, also of DeFuniak Springs.
Florida Highway Patrol investigators were unable to determine why Manning, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling in the wrong lane. An FHP media release said toxicology tests on Manning are pending to see if alcohol use was a factor.
Bexley was wearing her seatbelt and was not charged in the accident, though her vehicle sustained $7,000 in damage. She was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center with minor injuries.
