Arrests made in car thefts off P.J. Adams Parkway

Crestview police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a string of car burglaries that occurred in south Crestview last weekend.

More arrests are possible.

A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested Wednesday along with Crestview resident Ian Awtry Northcutt, 18.

Northcutt is charged with burglary and grand theft. He is being held on a $2,000 bond. The juvenile faces charges of burglary and grand theft as well, a Crestview Police Department arrest report states.

“There are more arrest warrants of other suspects that are pending in this case,” the police report states. “They too will be facing numerous charges in connection to these burglaries.”

Nearly two dozen automobiles were burglarized over the weekend in subdivisions off P.J. Adams Parkway.

Sunday morning, members of the Crestview Police department responded to 23 separate incidents where items had been stolen from automobiles in and around the River Chase subdivision.

The autos were targeted Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Police began fielding calls Sunday as people awoke and discovered items were missing from their vehicles.

Thieves stole iPods, GPS systems, radios, radar detectors, loose change and other items of value, police Lt. Andrew Schneider said.

“All of the vehicles were unlocked,” Schneider said.

Police have recovered several stolen items and are asking anyone who has not reported a car theft to do so by calling the Crestview Police Department to file a report and identify stolen items. The number to call is 682-3544.
