CHS FUND-RAISER: The Crestview High School baseball team will have its alumni game July 2 at 7 p.m. Varsity players will battle it out with former CHS players. In conjunction with the game, the team will kick off its fundraising for 2010 with the sale of beef Tri-Tip roasts. Roasts are fully cooked and ready to eat or freeze for future meals. Preorder by calling 689-7417, 398-2560 or 376-3401. One tri-tip is $25; two or more can be purchased for $20 each.

HEAVY HITTERS CAMP: Northwest Florida Heavy Hitters 13U baseball workouts are planned for the first week of August. Participants must be 14 years old after May 1, 2010 for the upcoming 2009-2010 USSSA season. Details: Melvin at 902-6237 or Greg at 496-9235.

CRESTVIEW SPORTS: Crestview Parks and Recreation is accepting signups for football, soccer and cheerleading.
Children who reach these age limits before Sept. 1 are welcome to sign up: ages 4-14 for soccer 6-11 for football, and 4-12 for cheerleading.
Registration is $60 for city residents and $65 for those outside the city limits. Please call 682-4715 for further details and information on cheerleader registration. Parks and rec hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Web site is at www.cityofcrestview.org.

FREE SCREENINGS: Winn-Dixie Pharmacy at 1326 N. Ferdon Blvd. in Crestview is hosting free total cholesterol and diabetes screening tests on July 1 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. No appointment is needed. For further details, call 1-800-713-3301.

HOBO RECREATION CAMP: The Laurel Hill Hobo Recreation Camp offers a safe learning and physical activity environment for kids from kindergarten through eighth grade. Campers will play sports including basketball, volleyball, baseball and bowling.
Hobo Recreation Camp will be conducted at Laurel Hill School by school personnel and will run from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, with extended care available from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. for an extra fee.
Session 2 runs July 6-31 for $200. Daily rate is $10; weekly rates are $50 per child. Discounts are offered for two or more children registered from the same household.

PUBLIX FUND-RAISER: Produce for Kids and Publix are teaming up to create miracles for kids at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital.  Through July 1, you can buy designated fresh produce at all Publix stores, and those funds will directly benefit Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

WORK OUT WITH ROTC: ROTC at Northwest Florida State College is opening its summer physical training program to high school age students and the public free of charge.  Youths and adults of any athletic ability, who are at least 16 years of age, are invited to join the college’s ROTC program students for circuit training, upper body and abdominal training, cardio training, stretching, running and team sports on Tuesday-Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. through August 13 at the ROTC building on the Niceville campus (west end of campus by the ball fields).
Instructors will do an evaluation the first day a person attends to place participants in a group that matches their abilities. Participants do not need to attend each session. Participation is free of charge, but individuals must complete a non-credit registration form, available at any campus location or on the college website at www.nwfstatecollege.edu.
