Local promotions company receives national award

The Vernon Company of Newton, Iowa, recently presented its annual Galaxy Award to Karen Phillips, president and owner of So. Tier INK of Crestview, and her client, Unity House, an agency that is provided funding through the New York State Food Consortium.

So. Tier INK is a Vernon Company Dealer and was chosen as the 2008 Silver recipient of this prestigious award. Phillips’ talents in developing and implementing promotional product programs were recognized through this high honor. The Vernon Circle of Stars Galaxy Award is an annual competition that recognizes outstanding use of promotional products in a client’s marketing and corporate branding program.

Phillips began her philanthropic interest with her local food bank in New York — where she is originally from — back in 2000, when she joined Kiwanis as their secretary. She met the local food bank president and began doing business together. This relationship resulted in a statewide opportunity to work with other agencies that receive annual funding through the NY State Food Consortium. Together Ms. Phillips and Unity House Nutrition Outreach and Education Coordinator Beverly Hickman began a year-long campaign using creative promotional items that would enhance and promote food stamp screening and application growth.

Phillips developed strong ideas with the use of kitchen utensils. The use of promotional products at community outreach events increased the interest tremendously. The creative designs So. Tier Ink provided Unity House made the company rise to the level of achievement.
Phillips has been asked to be a guest speaker at a fall conference in Albany, N.Y., to present material on promotional leadership.

So. Tier INK is an award-winning promotional products company based in Crestview with clients nationally. Phillips has received numerous advertising specialty awards for her expertise in promotional product planning and execution. Visit the Web site at www.sotierink.com.
