Crestview City Council update
The Crestview Police Department would like to become one of the first tenants in the city’s newly acquired building in Old Spanish Trail Park.
The CPD presented a proposal for a 9,000-square-foot police facility in the 30,000-square-foot former CitiChurch building during the Crestview City Council meeting Monday night.
“We’d like to put the department under one roof in a modern building for all of our needs,” CPD Chief Brian Mitchell said.
The council came to a consensus to research the issue further, including a tour of the building, before taking a vote on the CPD’s request.
The CPD estimated cost of the project at $197,970, with much labor provided by OCI crews and in-house staff.
City staff described the proposal as a chance to meet an anticipated need at a reduced cost.
“It’s a tumble-down effect,” Crestview Fire Department Chief Joe Traylor said. “If we allow the police to move into that facility, it opens up space for me, which opens up space for clerk’s office.”
