Crestview City Council update

The Crestview City Council will hold a special meeting May 19 to fill the vacancy on the council.

The council will select a person to complete Brenda Bush's term. Bush, the Precinct 3 council representative, passed away April 23.

The council will select an eligible person who resides in Precinct 3, covering all areas within the city limits north of U.S. Highway 90.

Citizens living in Precinct 3 interested in filling the vacancy are invited to submit a formal letter to the City Clerk. The letter should include a name, address and a statement of desire to serve the duration of the unexpired term, through April 6, 2009.

Letters should be sealed in an envelope, addressed to the City Clerk, and labeled "City Council Vacancy." Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

A spokesperson at the City Clerk's office said at least three people had submitted letters expressing interest in the position as of Monday morning.
