Get 'fit, focused and fired up' with CHS cheerleaders
Lately the news and media have reported on the alarming rise in the number of obese adolescents, producing a national initiative to help lower the percentage of overweight, inactive teens and preteens in America.
The Crestview High School cheerleaders decided to become involved in this project and to take an active role in increasing the physical activity in young girls in the local area.
Starting June 16 and running every Tuesday and Thursday until July 2, the cheerleaders will be hosting a “Fit! Focused! And Fired Up!” fitness camp for girls between the ages of 9 and 15. The camp is free and will take place at the CHS cheerleading room on the bus ramp from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be guest speakers to discuss nutrition, exercise and fitness, goal setting, self-esteem and other topics.
The girls will also be able to work out with the cheerleaders and learn about other physical activities in the school and community in which they can be involved.
Taylor Moore, a varsity cheerleader and upcoming junior at Crestview High School said, “We will have a lot of opportunities to get exercise and have fun at the same time. That’s what we want to show them. ”
Girls who plan to attend the camp should wear shorts, tennis shoes, and hair up. Early registration can be turned in to the front office at CHS, or girls can register at the door from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
If you have any questions about the camp or would like a registration form, call 758-6198 or 259-1808.
