PROGRAMS
• Join us today at 10:15 a.m. for our Summer Reading Program finale. A fun morning is planned with special treats. Reading Certificates will be awarded to all who participated. I know you have been reading and keeping your reading log in anticipation of getting your “Funny Money.” The “Funny Money Store” will be open right after Story Time today, again from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Have fun shopping! We’re sending out a BIG thank you to Mr. Rick and Mr. Kendrick for their help with the surprise treat during the finale. Hope you all enjoyed buggy books, songs and crafts presented especially for you this summer.
• Teen Time with the Wii! Teens 12-18 join us for Nintendo Wii play every Friday afternoon during July and August from 2 to 4 p.m. Parents and family members are welcome to hang out and use the library, but the Wii activities will be available only to teens. Any questions, please ask Ms. Janice. We would like to thank The Friends of the Crestview Library for this new purchase.
• Parents bring the kids to the library to sign up for our new Birthday Club. Sign up at the front desk and receive a birth month shape. Write the child’s name and birth date on it. We will post it on our Birthday Club board. During the birthday month, the child may come into the library, find his or her name and shape on the board, and bring it back to the front desk to receive a prize.
• Leni Riefenstahl's "Olympia: Breaking the Myths”: Brian Hughes, Florida Freedom Newspapers writer and National World War II Museum lecturer, will make a presentation on “The Greatest Sports Film Ever Made” at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Learn how the acclaimed documentary of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games was made, discover why it remains controversial to this day, and view clips of some of its most magnificent sequences. Great family entertainment, and it’s free.
• First Tuesday Lecture: The Aug. 5 lecture will be presented by Pat Hollarn, Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections, who will discuss "Everything You've Always Wanted to Know about Elections … But Were Afraid to Ask." Join us at 10:15 a.m. in the meeting room. Coffee and cookies will be served starting at 10 a.m.
Florida voter registration applications are available at the Library.
