Holt woman airlifted after SR-85 crash
One woman was airlifted after a crash near the Air Armament Museum just before 11 a.m.
Christine L. Powell, 40, of Holt, suffered serious injuries when
another vehicle struck hers at the intersection of State Road 85 and
Lewis Turner Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. She
was taken via helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Troopers said she was stopped facing southbound SR-85 in the outside lane when 18-year-old Nancy Bundy's car hit hers. Bundy, of Fort Walton Beach, had been heading south on SR-85 in the inside lane at about 10:40 a.m. before changing to the outside lane.
Witnesses said the traffic light was red and Bundy failed to slow.
After impact, Bundy's car ended up in the southbound merge lane facing
south. Powell's stopped in the middle of the intersection, facing
north.
Bundy refused medical treatment for minor injuries, according to an FHP
crash report. She was charged with careless driving and no insurance.
Damages to Powell's 1999 Acura and Bundy's 1998 Pontiac were listed at $5,000 each.
