Blackman Fire District displays new truck

BLACKMAN — The Blackman Volunteer Fire Department showed off its new wheels Monday night.

The department's new fire truck sat in the driveway outside the station during the fire district's monthly meeting.

The vehicle will serve as the department's attack truck, with support from existing apparatus.

The truck was purchased from Bluegrass Tank & Equipment Inc., in Elizabethtown, Ky., at a cost of about $90,000.

The truck was purchased with taxpayer funds. Morgan hopes the department eventually can obtain a grant from the Department of Homeland Security to purchase additional apparatus.
