Robbery suspect arrested (UPDATED with identity of suspect)

Suspect apprehended after chase through nearby woods

Brandon G. Mobley, 23, of Crestview has been arrested and charged with the armed robbery of a Crestview bank.

The robbery took place at about 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Vanguard Bank at 2150 Ferdon Blvd.

Mobley was apprehended in a wooded area off of Shoffner Avenue near Aplin Road abut 45 minutes after the robbery.

Witnesses reported the suspect was carrying a gun. From the description of the weapon witnesses in the bank gave a Crestview Police investigator, "It looked like a Glock," he said. "

No one was injured, according to witnesses. An undisclosed amount of money was taken

"The guy was dressed all in black and carrying an umbrella," witness Morgan Capewell said. "I saw him running around the corner and I said, 'uh-oh, what's this guy doing?' Then I saw him come running out and I said, I think the bank just got robbed."

Local law enforcement officers trailed the suspect's pickup truck to a wooded area just off Shoffner Avenue, where the white male suspect fled the vehicle and entered the woods.

Officers from the Crestview Police Department and the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department persued the robbery suspect into the woods and apprehended him a short time later. He emerged shirtless and covered in mud, having discarded the hooded sweatshirt he had allegedly worn during the robbery.

"This is a fine example of the police department and the sheriff's department working together," said Crestview Police Chief Brian Mitchell.

Mobley is being held at the Okaloosa County Jail.

He will probably only get 5 yrs. Good behavior he will do 80 percent of the time he gets. Florida and it's point system lets him almost get away with it. Heard he's a gambler, loads of money or maybe 5yrs in prison. Bet that was his biggest wager yet.

From everything that I have heard, seen and read about Brandon, he got his 15 seconds of fame that he wanted so badly, and now he will spend the rest of his life paying for it! What a mistake.

In a few weeks, everyone will forget about what Brandon did and what will happen to him. He and his family will have to live with it the rest of their lives. For those that are making rude remarks, just remember that things like this can happen to any family. I'm sure Brandon's parent never thought this would be about them.

Yes, he is nice and genuine. I will say it again. Justme put it best, he let his problems get the best of him. It is sad because now his life is ruined. I am also thankful that he will now get some help and hopefully he will learn a lesson from this.

No I am not a family member, just a friend. He is not an idiot, he just let his problems out weigh his good judgement. Apparently you, Jay had a problem with him before this like maybe jealousy.

Excuse me Kaye! Please forgive me for cracking on an idiot who robbed a BANK! You must be a family member. What a shame.

If anyone knows this guy, they know he has had alot of problems. Very mannerly, nice young adult. I just think his problems outweighed his ability to ask for help with those problems. He now will pay the price.

He wanted some quick easy money of course, that's why he did it. I am sorry for his parents though, no one deserves that. He is just very lucky he didn't run into someone with a concealed weapon or an off duty officer or they may have been attending his funeral instead of his trial. I'm just glad in all his stupidity no one was injured or killed. Another one for the world's dumbist crooks show I guess.

No one knows why he did this so stop judging. I guess the ones that put negative comments on here are perfect.

He is 25, not 23. He is a real nice and genuine guy. I never would have guessed he would have done something like that.
