"Anger management issues" lead to arrest
A 20-year-old Crestview man was arrested on felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he threatened to ram his former girlfriend and her friend with his car.
Sean Daniel Smith was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail following the incident, which started after a gathering at a residence on Lee Avenue.
According to a Crestview Police arrest report, Smith said Megan Williams, 18, slapped him when she got in his car to say goodbye to him. He told police he “twisted her wrist and slapped her back.”
When Williams jumped in her friend Jillian Hacker’s car to get away, Smith allegedly pursued her and began banging on Hacker’s car windows.
Another person at the event requested that Smith leave, but after the women left together, “I saw a car come up behind me really fast right on my tail,” Hacker said, according to her statement in the report. “Then he gets beside us and keeps trying to hit us in the side.”
When Smith stopped his car in the road in front of the women, Hacker told police she went around him. When he allegedly pursued them again, Hacker said she called her mother who advised she call 911.
The pursuit took the parties across town until the police dispatcher advised the women to pull into the Tom Thumb at U.S. Highway 90 and Antioch Road.
While an officer took the women’s report, they noticed Smith cruise passed them, shortly after which he was stopped by police.
Williams was transported by North Okaloosa County EMS to the North Okaloosa Medical Center to have her wrist treated.
Smith’s car was released to his mother while he was placed under arrest. According to the report, he told police “Williams had ‘played’ with his head” so “he chased and attempted to strike their vehicle to ‘play’ with their heads.
“Smith advised he knows he has ‘anger management issues’ and hopes he can receive counseling,” the report stated. He was assigned a court date of August 19.
