CRESTVIEW – A homeless man was arrested for sipping on beer and juice and placing them back on the shelf while walking through a Tom Thumb on Ferdon Boulevard.

The Crestview Police Department was called out to the Tom Thumb on Aug. 6 after the store clerk saw the man enter the store in an erratic mood, according to an arrest report from the Crestview Police Department.

The homeless man told the clerk to call the police, but refused to tell her why. The man then walked up and down the aisles of the store, took a 16 ounce beer, opened it and took a sip.

He then went on the other end of the store and sipped on a small kid’s juice drink. The man then placed it down and waited for police to arrive.

The total value of the items was $4.98, but the defendant did not have any money to pay for them.

He was handcuffed and taken to the Okaloosa County Jail.
