MARY ESTHER — A Navarre man died after he was struck trying to cross U.S. Hwy 98 Sunday morning.

According to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Troy Edward Walter of Navarre was attempting to cross U.S. 98 at the intersection of Wynnehaven Beach Road around 12:03 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer traveling east in the outside lane of 98.

The front corner of the Ford Explorer struck Walter, causing fatal injuries, the release said. The driver of the Ford Explorer, 20-year-old Jamaal Brewer and passenger 16-year-old Kalim Muhammad, both of Pensacola, had no injuries. No charges were filed.
