CRESTVIEW — A man was arrested on domestic violence charges after an argument with his wife allegedly turned physical.

A woman called police on May 30 and said her husband had hit her in the chest, according to a Crestview Police Department report. When police arrived, the husband was in the basement. The woman said he had been cursing and threatening her and her brother, who also lives at the home.

She said he went into her brother’s room without permission and tried to remove the cable box. The woman told her to stop and he hit her with an open hand, and as she attempted to leave the room he stood in front of the doorway.

When officers made contact with the man in the basement, they noted his movements were “slow” and his speech was “choppy.” He became upset when the officer asked him what happened and had trouble speaking. He then admitted to pushing his wife and said she struck him in his ear, but there were no injuries to his ear to back up his claim.

The man was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery.
