CRESTVIEW — A Bonifay man was arrested at Crestview’s Walmart for retail theft after putting headlight bulbs in a diaper bag, lawmen say.
At about 4 p.m. May 22, a Walmart asset protection employee saw two men and one woman in the automotive section of the store. The woman was pushing a child in a shopping cart with a large diaper bag that was open, a Crestview Police Department arrest report said.
One of the men starting selecting a variety of bulbs and placing them in the cart next to the bag. He later selected one light and left the rest in the men’s underwear aisle, the report said.
The man took the cart from the woman and the other man and put the headlights in the diaper bag, the report said. They went to the deli area of the store, where the woman bought some chicken. Then they left the store without paying for the headlights.
According to the report, the store associate stopped the man pushing the cart, and he and the women were escorted to the asset protection area. The man freely removed the merchandise from the bag.
The store associate said the man was helpful, but he was still arrested for shoplifting.
