CRESTVIEW — The Crestview Police Department has apprehended a teenage suspect in connection with a March 17 home invasion on Virginia Street in which a woman celebrating her birthday was shot in the thigh.

On March 29, Tristen Wayne Stewart, 15, of Shalimar was arrested on felony charges of home invasion robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

“After investigation, enough information was obtained to arrest Mr. Stewart for the home invasion,” Crestview Police Criminal Investigations Department Sgt. Ray Harp said.

The 19-year-old Crestview woman, who was celebrating her birthday with a friend, was shot around 1:50 a.m. March 17 while at her mother’s house.

According to the initial incident report, her friend said a white male and a black male burst through the front door and one of them shot at the woman, who had run up the stairs, after she threatened them with a Taser-type weapon.

Stewart also faces the possibility of further charges as the case remains under active investigation.

“The Crestview Police Department is working on leads for other possible subjects involved in the incident,” Harp said.
