CRESTVIEW — A woman who went to pick up a dental appointment card for her stepson from another woman’s home left with bruises after an altercation over the card turned physical.

The victim told police she arrived at the 28-year-old woman’s Crestview home to pick up a dental appointment reminder for her stepson, according to the Crestview Police Department. She said the woman had called and texted her several times requesting her to come to the home to pick up the card, and the messages were “aggressive and threatening in nature.” The victim said she was afraid the woman would “put her six feet under with a bullet in her brain,” so she brought two family members with her when she went to pick up the card on Feb. 11.

As the victim got out of her vehicle to retrieve the card, she said the woman approached her and acted like she was going to give her the card, but instead hit her in the face with her other hand. The women then rolled around on the ground fighting as the victim tried to get the woman off of her.

The victim was eventually able to get in her truck and lock the doors, and the woman ran up to her truck and started hitting the windows and trying to open the doors. The victim said she was able to drive away safely.

The victim had several injuries on her person, including scratches and bruises, as well as a “circle shape with teeth marks.” The other woman had injuries as well, which the victim said were caused by her defending herself.

The woman was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery and felony violation of probation. She was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail.
