CRESTVIEW — The Arc of the Emerald Coast recently broke ground on a new, community residential home, thanks to a grant from the Florida Housing Authority. The handicapped accessible house is expected to be completed by late June and will be the permanent home to clients of the Arc EC.

The Arc of the Emerald Coast, formerly Horizons, is a 501(c)(3) that provides services to about 450 people who have developmental and other disabilities in and around Okaloosa, Walton, and Santa Rosa Counties. For more information visit

J. Tashik Construction Corporation of Niceville won the contract to build the home.

"Our goal is to continue to grow, to serve more of our local citizens with developmental disabilities, and a new community residential home is a great step in our mission" said John Roper, CEO for the Arc of the Emerald Coast.
