CRESTVIEW — A woman was arrested on domestic violence charges after beating her boyfriend with a broom when he accused her of cheating on him.

Crestview police responded to the couple’s home on Jan. 28 and made contact with the man, who said he and the woman got into an argument after he accused her of infidelity. He told authorities the couple made their way into the kitchen as they were arguing, at which point his girlfriend grabbed a broom and struck him in the face near his right eye. The man defended himself by grabbing her arms and then running out of the home into the garage.

Several items in the kitchen were broken during the altercation, according to the police report. The man had bruises on his face and scratches on his hand, and a broken broom was observed in the kitchen.

The woman told police she had blurry memories of the incident, adding she and the man had been drinking before the incident. She also said she hit the man with her hand, not a broom, because he was threatening to throw their daughter’s TV.

The woman said their two children were in the home at the time of the altercation “and were scared.”

She was arrested and taken to the Okaloosa County Jail on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.
