OKALOOSA ISLAND – A 37-year-old man was arrested after he tried to hide a bag of heroin between his buttocks during a traffic stop.

The Niceville man refused to unclench his buttocks for Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies to retrieve the drugs. After several attempts, they managed to pry the drugs out of his butt.

When he stood up, a used syringe fell to the ground, according to his arrest report.

The deputy said he could see the man making a lot of “furtive movements” as he approached the car.

A search of the vehicle revealed a metal spoon with burn marks. He also had an active warrant for his arrest on three counts of dealing in stolen property.

He was charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia, as well as tampering with evidence.
