Michael Ray has recorded several chart-topping hits in recent years, including “Kiss You in the Morning” “Think a Little Less” “Run Away with You” “Real Men Love Jesus”

EUSTIS — Country music star and Eustis native Michael Ray was arrested on DUI and drug charges early Wednesday morning when he allegedly hit another car in a McDonald’s drive-through.

According to a police report, Ray, whose real last name is Roach, was in the drive-through of the restaurant on Bay Street about 3:30 a.m. when his foot slipped off the brake pedal and the Jeep struck the car in front of him. Ray told the Eustis police officer that he was coming from a bar in Tavares, and the officer said it was apparent he’d been drinking because his eyes were bloodshot, he slurred his speech and he stumbled when he walked.

Officers put Ray through a field sobriety test and determined that he failed it. He later refused to take a breathalyzer test, according to the report.

Police said they discovered a bottle containing marijuana oil in Ray’s pocket. He reportedly acknowledged to officers that it belonged to him.

Ray is an emerging country music star who has recorded several chart-topping hits in recent years, including “Kiss You in the Morning,” “Think a Little Less,” “Run Away with You” and “Real Men Love Jesus.”
