CRESTVIEW — A town hall meeting will focus on deaf education in mainstream programs.
The Agency for Deaf Advocacy and Services meeting is 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 6 at the ADAS office, 113 Main St., Crestview.
The recently established organization will discuss mainstream program accessibility, informed advocacy, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, and services the ADAS offers.
"This is so critical in the light of the oppressive environment deaf people face and the lack of understanding of deafness on communication in every aspect of society, (from the shortage of interpreters to ineffective accommodations to a broken legal system," an ADAS spokesman said.
