HOLT — An early morning fire completely destroyed a studio apartment on Galliver Cut-Off on Monday.
The apartment, which was 880 square feet, was about 75 feet from the main house, according to Holt Fire Department firefighter Ryan Burkett.
He was on the first engine that arrived and found the male occupant outside trying to hose down the fire. His wife had called 911, Burkett said. The fire was through the roof, he said.
The call came in just before 4 a.m.
Engines from Baker Fire Department and Harold Fire Department also responded.
It took crews about 40 minutes to knock down the fire, which was in the attic, Burkett said.
They were unable to enter the structure for fear that the roof would collapse, he said.
The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the cause.
