Police believe shooting suspect may be hiding at Quinta Villa apartments; two schools placed on lockdown as precaution.
CRESTVIEW — A SWAT team has been called to Quinta Villa apartments, where officers believe a shooting suspect may be hiding.
Crestview Police Department spokesman Brian Hughes said at 3:45 p.m. that Mapoles Street, Lloyd Street and First Avenue have been closed as the SWAT team searches for the person believed to have shot a man.
Northwood Elementary School and Richbourg School are both on lockdown as a precaution, Hughes said.
The victim has been taken by Okaloosa County EMS to a nearby hospital. His condition is unknown.
A man has been reported shot near Quinta Villa apartments Wednesday afternoon.
Crestview Police Department spokesman Brian Hughes would only say the shooting was under investigation. He didn't report if police were still searching for the shooter or if a suspect was in custody.
Hughes did say the wounded man drove away from the apartment complex, hit a speed limit sign and was found a couple blocks from the complex. His condition was not reported.
