CRESTVIEW —Two Department of Juvenile Justice detainees were arrested after authorities say they struck another detainee several times in the head and body, possibly using a chicken bone at one point to stab the victim in the cheek.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, 15-year-old Dakota James Davis and 15-year-old John Horak III have been charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm following the Oct. 8th attack in a lunchroom at the DJJ facility on Straight Line Road.
The suspects told authorities the victim was offering other detainees a candy bar to fight them. The victim said he was stabbed in the face with a chicken bone and suffered several broken ribs as one attacker held him in a headlock while the other struck him several times in the face and body. The suspects denied using a chicken bone.
Video surveillance footage corroborated the victim's statements to authorities.
The victim was treated for his injuries at North Okaloosa Medical Center.
