CRESTVIEW — A woman was arrested after slapping her daughter because authorities say she did not have custody of her and did not have permission to discipline her.
According to an arrest report from the Crestview Police Department, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on Aug. 19 and made contact with a woman who said she had accidentally slapped her daughter on her left ear after attempting to slap her on her arm.
The officer interviewed the girl who confirmed her mother slapped her, and was holding her ear during the interview as if she had sustained a minor injury according to the report.
During the interview, the officer was made aware that the woman did not have parental custody of her daughter. The girl’s legal guardian told the officer she did not give the woman permission to discipline the girl on her behalf.
The woman was arrested and charged with child abuse.
