CRESTVIEW — A man driving erratically with his 4-year-old daughter in the car was pulled over and busted for possessing 5 pounds of marijuana.
According to an arrest report from the Crestview Police Department, on Aug. 18 an officer observed a car stopping in an intersection, backing up and almost backing into another vehicle at a stop sign. The vehicle then continued driving and drove through another stop sign down the road, almost causing an accident.
When the officer pulled up behind the car and activated his emergency lights, the driver pulled into a business parking lot near a church. The officer approached the man and noticed he was “shaking and very nervous.” The officer also smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
When the officer asked the man where the marijuana was located, the man “froze, (looked) straight ahead and was shaking.” Eventually the officer found 5 pounds of marijuana in a tool box on the driver’s side.
The officer also noted the man had his 4-year-old daughter in the back seat.
Due to the arrest happening within 1,000 feet of a church, the man was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a church.
