DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — The rodeo is coming to town.

Friday afternoon, inmate work crews from the Walton County Jail helped set up for the Special Needs Rodeo and Open Rodeo set for July 15 at the fair grounds in DeFuniak Springs. Net proceeds go towards Special Olympics of Walton County.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office encourages citizens to join in on a night of fun, face painting, food and rodeo. Admission is $10. Children six and under are free.

The special needs rodeo begins at 4 p.m. with events such as dummy roping, pony rides, face painting and hobby horse barrel racing. The traditional rodeo starts at 7 p.m. with events such junior and open barrel racing, bull riding and team roping. Entry fees are $60 to $120.
