CRESTVIEW — A 50-year-old man was arrested last week after threatening two victims with a garden hoe and an axe.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to 4579 Sugartown Road in Crestview on June 7 in reference to a disturbance.
According to the arrest report, William Oglesby arrived at the home of Marda Oglesby. He was looking for Robin McKenzie, who he lived with for two years at a different address.
Marda is a relative of William's through marriage.
After an argument ensued, William left the home and acquired a garden hoe as he cursed and yelled, the report said. Marda took the hoe from William to prevent him from hurting Robin. He then struck Marda on the left side of the head with a closed fist. After being struck, Marda and Robin fled to the inside residence. William then got an axe from the yard and began striking the front door of the residence and damaging personal property. The total cost of the damage was $700.
While William was holding the axe and kicking the front door, the women barricaded the door with a chair.
Robin was visibly shaking from the fear caused by William, the report said.
A background check on William showed he has a previous conviction for criminal mischief in 1990 and a conviction of battery domestic violence in 2015. He was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, battery second offense and criminal mischief second offense. All are felony charges.
