CRESTVIEW — A Pensacola man has been charged with marijuana possession after telling officers that if they found a bag of pot, it was his because he'd lost one.

The 37-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by Crestview police Monday. The vehicle had an expired decal and the driver failed to use a turn signal, according to the Police Department.

A K9 unit showed up during the traffic stop and alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. When an officer found a small bag of marijuana, the suspect said if they found marijuana, it was his, police reported.

He was arrested and taken to the Okaloosa County Jail.

A 21-year-old woman passenger also was charged with drug possession after officers found methamphetamine in a child-restraint seat next to her, the police report said.

They also found meth in a makeup bag near where she had been sitting.
